Significance of properly proportioned fly ash based blended cement for sustainable concrete structures of tannery industry

چکیده
Tannery wastewater contains several detrimental constituents that severely affect concrete durability. It can also cause soil and water pollution from discharge of untreated effluent if not properly contained. Therefore, ensuring proper protection tannery treatment plants is extreme importance to prevent leaching hazardous wastewater. Properly proportioned blended cement usually required for construction ensure structural stability. However, there no definite guideline available mix design structures exposed In this study, effect adding different proportions two industrial wastes i.e. fly ash granulated blast furnace slag with ordinary Portland (OPC) as supplementary cementitious material (SCM) has been investigated under conditions. A total 240 cubes 48 mortar bars were prepared tested normal simulated The performance was measured in terms compressive strength, expansion, weight loss, surface deterioration etc. Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) images Energy-dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS) techniques used observe changes microstructure. Test results revealed composites and/or suffered less strength loss compared OPC samples. only exhibited desired expansion test. addition, SEM EDS analyses confirmed lower density ettringite calcium mixes due pore refinement caused by formation secondary hydration products.

متن کاملCorrosion Resistance Performance of Fly Ash Blended Cement Concretes
Durability of reinforced concrete with respect to corrosion of reinforcement is one of the major aspects to be considered in the management of civil infrastructure systems. An accelerated laboratory test method developed at SERC where the concrete specimen containing rebar is subjected to polarization under a constant voltage in a sodium chloride solution. It is found that the current response ...

This paper presents the effect of Hydrochloric acid (HCl) on Blended Cement (Fly ash based(BC)) and Silica Fume Blended Cement(SFBC) and their concretes. The BC and SFBC and their concretes BCC and SFBCC produced with HCl dosage of 100, 150, 300, 500 and 900 mg/l added in deionised water. In addition to this control specimens were prepared with deionised water (without HCl) for comparison. The ...
متن کاملHigh-performance, High-volume Fly Ash Concrete for Sustainable Development
For a variety of reasons, the concrete construction industry is not sustainable. First, it consumes huge quantities of virgin materials. Second, the principal binder in concrete is portland cement, the production of which is a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions that are implicated in global warming and climate change. Third, many concrete structures suffer from lack of durability whi...
